On 27th of November 2011, Summer Academy had its annual Concert and Graduation party. This year's theme for the Concert was "A Musical Journey through Time". The parents were reminded of the famous songs that they were exposed to when they grew up (Wham, Abba, The Carpenters, Black Eyed Peas and more...). We are very proud of all the students who graduated and performed during the concert. Both the teachers and the students had a blast during this special event... see for yourselves..

Parents Day Performances at Summer Academy (DU)

The week of May 16th until 20th of May 2011, Summer Academy organises its annual special event "Parents Day Performance". The students sang and danced 3 to 4 songs to their parents in 3 different languages !!!! After the performance, the students gave their parents a special gift (photoframe, made by the students themselves, with their picture inside the frame). Subsequently, the parents enjoyed the special Summer Academy parents' breakfast. See for yourselves !!!!

On Thursday (21 April) and Friday (22 April) Summer Academy students (5-6 years old) went to experience a special "Earth Day" event at Sunway Giza Mall at Kota Damansara. The event was organised by the special chain of organic shops "JUSTLIFE". The Summer Academy students learnt "how to make bread", "how to re-cycle", "how to take care of Mother Earth", "how to plant your own tree" and more... As the Earth Day is a special celebration, the Summer Academy students danced in honour of Mother Earth. See for yourselves....

Summer Academy Fieldtrip to the ZOO Negara

On Thursday 24th of March 2011, Summer Academy had a fieldtrip to Zoo Negara. The kids were very excited to see various animals. Some wanted to see the Tigers, some wanted to see Elephants and/or the Hippos. The kids were able to see all the animals they wanted to see. The Zoo arranged 6-7 trains so the kids were able to see the whole Zoo. And as a surprise, the kids were shown a real snake that they can touch. It was lots and lots of FUN... see for yourselves...

On 28th January, Summer Academy organised a Special Waterday Celebration event. This whole day was related to the topic water. The 5-6 years old, did some science experiments related to waterfilters and they made their own waterfilter. They realised that it is important to drink clean water. Dear parents,

On Sunday 28th of November, Summer Academy organised its annual Concert and Graduation party. It was an unforgetable event. More than 100 Summer Academy students were performing with joy and the parents were threated with 16 musical performances (Sing and/or Dance). This year's theme was "JUNGLE FEVER". The students were performing in front of a crowd of 375 dancing and cheering parents. We are very proud of the Summer Academy students and parents for making it a fantastic show. On Thursday 3 December 2009, Summer Academy conducted a special programme for 80 IBM kids. The topics for this day was "Journey to the centre of the Earth" and "Renewable Energy". The programmes are interactive and we used the computer and projector. The kids were very excited and engaged in answering the questions. The kids made various items: their own sailboat, their own layers of the Earth... they painted a beautiful mug for their parents, they conducted the volcano experiment and more... see for yourselves... More than 200 guests show the fantastic show. Read for the World Record at Summer Academy on 8 October 2009

On Thursday 8 October 2009, it was a milestone for some students at Summer Academy. The students participated in a Global Read for the World Record event. What does this mean ? Well, during this day, all over the world, all the participating students will read the same book. And this year's book selection was "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" written by Eric Carle. The reading event started at the White House USA and then it went all over the world.

What is the purpose of this event ? This event is organised for the purpose of giving all the kids all over the world an opportunity to read. And related to this, Summer Academy organises a book donation event for under-privillege kids in Kapar (nearby Klang). So the books and stationaries that our Kids and Parents donate, will donated to these kids in kapa (the book /stationary donation will close on 30 October 2009). So to be continued.

After the reading session, the Summer Academy students did some activities related to the book. They made a book mark, a giant caterpillar, ate some of the food that the caterpillar ate, face painting and more...

Summer Academy at BFM 89.9 (Business FM)

On Thursday 21 August 2009, Yanesly and Julie from Summer Academy Kindergarten were invited by Freda Liu as guests for the famous Radio show on BFM 89.9. This was the second visit for Yanesly and Julie. The first visit was to introduce Summer Academy Kindergarten to the listeners and to share with the listeners the future plans of Summer Academy. The second visit was a follow up on Summer Academy's plans within 5 years.

During the show, Freda brought a specialist who gave Yanesly and Julie tips and advise on how to move forward with Summer Academy. The specialist is none-other than Jeevan Sahadevan, he is the Director of Action Coach. He gave very useful and fantastic tips on how move forward with our Fantastic Summer Academy. Thanks Jeevan.

Summer Academy Sportday 8 August 2009

On Saturday 8 August 2009, Summer Academy organised its annual special Sports Day and Family Day event. First, all the Summer Academy students did a group parade to showcase the parents and spectators their sports team. The students are very proud to be part of a fantastic team. The group is divided in blue, green, yellow and red team.

After the parade, as a group, the students competed against each other. There were 4 events where the students showcased their abilities and athletic capabilities. After the 4 events, the scores were very tight. After the students' event, it was the turn for the parents to showcase their abilities. BTW, for some parents, it was the first time in years that they can play and feel like kids again !!! One of the events was the balloon bursting competition. The parents looked like gladiators and ready to compete against each other.

At the end, we had the prize giving ceremony. All the participants received a gift and the winner received a medal and a trophy. We all had a BLAST... good job students and parents.. until next year for our next Sports and Family Day...

I would like to applaude the teachers for making this Sports and Family Day a special event.

Islamic Arts Museum (Lake Gardens) 23 July 2009

On Thursday 23 August 2009, Summer Academy organised a fieldtrip to the Islamic Arts Museum at the Lake Garden in Kuala Lumpur. This is a special event for Summer Academy because it is the first time that both of our schools (Subang Jaya and Damansara Utama) are going on a fieldtrip together. What did the students do ? First, they san songs in the bus. Then, they had a safari inside the museum. The goal was for the students to find animals in the artifacts. It was not easy, but it was FUN !!! At the end, the students painted the plates and wore some Islamic costumes. See the pictures for yourselves....

Parenting Workshop (Introduction and How to Read with your Kids)

On Saturday 14th February 2009, Summer Academy invited all their Kindergarten Parents for our well-known Parenting Workshop. The first workshop in line was about an "Introduction of Summer Academy" and "How to Read with your Kids".

"Introduction to Summer Academy" was a workshop that gave the Kindergarten Parents an insight of how we are working with the kids and why we put FUN in Learning at Summer Academy. The second workshop "How to Read with your Kids" was a workshop that gave the Kindergarten Parents the Tools of Reading Skills and that gave the Parents the reason why it is Important to Read with your Kids. At the end, it is not only about the Reading Skills but also about Comprenhensive Reading. Reading is just the stepping stone to learn more new Subjects and Topics.

Thursday 9th of October 2008, was a day that the kids will never forget. On this day, the Summer Academy students went to Zoo Negara. Wauw, that was an amazing experience. The kids sang songs during the long bustrip down and at the Zoo they saw various animals. On top of that, they were privillege to visit the Vet at Zoo Negara. And they were lucky, at this particular day, the Vet had a wounded Lion. So the kids encountered the lion face to face. The kids had a BLAST !!!!

Dear Parents,

Once a week, the students will have computer classes at Summer Academy. The students will learn the kids' version of the famous computer program "Microsoft Office". During the computer classes, the students will work on various projects, such as: the presentation of Corduroy, market research... and now the students are working on this project called "Writing a Business Plan". For this project, the students have to make their own name cards, make a commercial, make a calculation.. and more. In short, the students have to use the three computer programs to make the project to a success.. good luck and good job !!!!

The motto for Summer Academy is "To Explore the World" and as a part of this motto Summer Academy organises various Fieldtrips, various Holiday Programmes (around the world in 7 weeks, Olympic Games, Mode of Transportation and more...) and of course the students will go to the park to play, to explore and to have fun... The kids are always looking forward to have their lunch at Summer Academy Cafe. Our cook, Pushpa, makes delicious dishes. Some of the favourite dishes that she cooks are: Fish Porridge, Chicken Porridge, Mee Hoon Goreng, Nassi Goreng, Pasta and more... Some kids will even have second rounds... YUMMMY....

Besides eating the delicious dishes, the kids will also have cooking classes. During the cooking classes, the kids are making dishes like: Sushi, Freshly Made Hamburgers, Freshly made Pastas and more... By introducing the kids to cooking, the kids will appreciate food more and what we noticed is that the most difficult eaters will at least try to taste the food...

On 21st of August 2008, the teachers of Summer Academy took their students on a Fieldtrip to the Olympic Museum and the Butterfly Park. At the Olympic Museum, the students learnt about the history of the Olympics. Furthermore, the students made their own Olympic Flag. After the Museum, we went to have lunch at the Birdpark Cafe and then we went to see the butterflies at the butterfly park. We had a GREAT Day !!!!!

During the August 2008 Holidays, Summer Academy organised its well know Holiday Programme from Monday until Thursday. The theme for the Holiday Programme was "The Olympic Games". So during this week, the kids will learn about the "Ancient" and "Modern" Olympic Games" and they will do a lot of ARTS & CRAFT. Furthermore, the kids have to compete against each other, like the real athletes during the real Beijing Olympics. The kids did a good job and they enjoyed a lot.. see for your self...

On Saturday 16 August 2008, Summer Academy organised its 1st Sports and Family Day. So, a special event for both Students and Parents. We organised 4 Team events for the students and the team that received the most number of points will get a Trophy, a Gold Medal and a small gift. Actually, we gave all the participants a gift (a beautiful book). After the team event, we had the Parents sweating as well with their kids. We organised 4 events for the family as well, whereby the Family can win a PRIZE for the Fashion Competition. Summer Academy gave the family a string and newspapers. And with these materials, they have to create something amazing..... Good Job Guys !!!!! Up to the next Sportsday in 2009 !!!!!

Last May 16th 2008, the Summer Academy Kindergarten Students performed (sing and dance) for their Parents. The sang and danced an English, a Mandarin and a BM song for their parents. Furthermore, the students made amazing gifts for their Mum and Dad. For their mum, the students made a Photoframe, a Flowerpot and a Hairband/Crown. For their Dad, the students made a handpainted Coffee/Tea Mug. After the performance, the parents and the students enjoyed a delicious lunch at the Summer Academy Cafe. GREAT JOB GUYS !!!

Last May 28th 2008, Summer Academy's Teachers and Students went on a Fieldtrip to the Rabbit Farm in Semenyih. The kids saw different types of rabbit and they did various activities related to rabbits (feeding the rabbits, dressing up the rabbit competition and more...). The kids had great FUN !!!
